Clark County Family
YMCA Youth Policy
Children 7 years and under must be under direct supervision of a parent or adult guardian (18+ years old) while they are in the facility. Direct supervision includes the adult interacting with the child within arms length away. Children do not need parent-direct supervision if participating in a structured YMCA program, such as Child Watch, Kids' Gym, Swim Lessons, etc.
Pool Exceptions
Children 5 and under must be accompanied by an adult in the water at all times. Children 6 and 7 years may be in the pool with parent's close observation from the side of the pool. The safety of each situation and needed protocol is under the discretion of the lifeguard. Youth between the ages of 8 and 11 years must have a parent or adult guardian (18+ years old) in the Clark County Family YMCA facility. These youth may participate in gym and pool activities while their parent or guardian is exercising or attending a class in another portion of the facility.
To keep all children safe, any child under the age of 12 without a parent or adult guardian will not be allowed into the facility. The child's parent will be called and requested to comply with this Youth Policy; or the child will be asked to return home. There are no exceptions to this policy.
Youth 12 or 13 years old may be in the facility by themselves with some limitations. The upstairs Fitness Training area will be off limits unless the youth is enrolled in a structured class such as Parent-Child Yoga. Strength training machines, free weights and cardiovascular equiptment will not be accessible to this age group unless they are in a closely supervised Youth Strength Training or Youth Fitness Program. The Wellness Resource Center is not available to this age group.
Youth 14 to 17 years old will have access to the facility, including the Fitness Training area.
